GREENE KING

As one of the oldest independent breweries in the UK, Greene King wanted to showcase their brewing expertise to a more diverse audience by twisting and adapting traditional flavour profiles and channeling some of Britain’s folklore to create authentic, modern, and exciting beverages.

CENTURIES IN THE MAKING

VIBRANT HISTORY

Each of the four beers pays homage to the legends of British history. The Design Bridge London Studio used playful illustrations inspired by historic woodcuts with vibrant colour combinations and bespoke typographical personalities for each variant, accentuating the quirks of historic typefaces to give them a modern twist - which were then animated and brought to life through motion.

REINVENTING AN ICON

To introduce the world to the new face of Greene King, I produced this animated video which takes the carefully crafted illustrations and typography of the brand, and brings the stories behind the visuals on pack to life - delving into the stories of headless saints and fiddlers roving the tunnels beneath Bury St. Edmunds, among others.

LEVEL HEAD

A session IPA, playfully nods to the legend of St. Edmund, who lost his head to the Vikings but miraculously found it again. The animation comedically shows his head detached from his body, portraying a perfectly executed beer.

FLINT EYE

A sharp, crisp lager, takes inspiration from Neolithic arrows found near Greene King breweries, in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk. This film contrasts the sharp arrowheads with the refreshing bubbles found in this hoppy beer.
